These Sculptures Will Bring Animal Activism Into Your Home

A compassionate artist has created a powerful way to spread awareness of the cruelty, exploitation, and abuse that animals endure. “Humanimals” is a series of sculptures devoted to various animal rights issues. Vanguard Society member Gayle Weitz created these nine eye-opening basswood sculptures, each with a compartment that opens to reveal a thought-provoking message.

Harebrained” depicts a rabbit in a lab coat. Complete with his own laboratory badge, he was the first piece created by Gayle, designed to expose the reality behind crude, archaic experiments on animals.

there’s “Fat Cat,” who looks exactly like he sounds. This feline spreads awareness of the plight of companion animals—from the homelessness crisis to neglectful owners. Having “Fat Cat” nearby would serve as a constant reminder of the life-changing work PETA does in behalf of companion animals, thanks to the support of donors like you—and all funds from this auction go to support our Community Animal Project.

Then there’s “Holy Cow!” who packs a punch about the dairy industry. Are you under the impression that milk is good for you and that the cows exploited to produce it are happy? “Holy Cow” is here to dispel myths spread by industry marketing. Some other Humanimals, like “Pigheaded” and “Chickenhearted,” tell stories about what occurs in slaughterhouses.

Each piece is currently available for bidding and could find a home with you! Not only would you land a unique, meaningful sculpture for your home, the funds would also support the PETA work you care about most.
