Nothing compares to being outside on a snowy winter day—unless you’re stuck out there with no way to stay warm.

Winter isn’t bracing then—it’s demoralizing. The wind and cold cut through you, and the nights are dark and long. There’s no end to the bone-chilling misery.

Dogs should always live indoors as beloved family members, but many are trying right now to survive another bleak winter. Some might have a drafty crate for “shelter” or maybe a cardboard box, a metal drum, or a few scraps of plywood leaning against a chain-link fence. Others don’t have anything.

You can help change that.

PETA builds and delivers sturdy doghouses designed to protect these neglected dogs. The slanted roof has an overhang to deflect snow and ice, the door is covered with a durable flap to block the wind, and the platform keeps the floor dry. They’re also filled with straw for extra insulation. We’ve delivered more than 300 so far this year.
