5 Ways PETA Is Helping Animals in Laboratories This Week

  1. Monkeys imported from overseas have caused an outbreak of tuberculosis in a Michigan laboratory. PETA is demanding an end to such imports.
  2. Following that outbreak, we penned a passionate letter to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  urging it to retest the monkeys and workers and prevent further spread of the illness.
  3. We filed a federal complaint against the University of Washington after an inspection showed catastrophic failures to protect animals, including mice who were baked to death after staff failed to turn off a heat lamp.
  4. Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) has been ordered to pay PETA over $400,000 following the school’s attempt to illegally destroy video footage of horrific experiments in which voles were given the equivalent of 15 bottles of wine a day in order to gauge the effects of intoxication on infidelity.
  5. PETA supporters took on OHSU again, demonstrating against the university’s use of live pigs in its OB/GYN residency program.
