5 Ways PETA Is Helping Animals in Laboratories This Week

  1. In a historic moment for animal rights, a European citizens’ initiative launched by PETA entities and other animal protection organizations closed with over 1.4 million signers—all demanding an end to animal tests! This measure will compel the European Parliament to take action.
  2. Following our tremendous success in ending military trauma training on animals in much of the world, PETA U.S. is now confronting the U.S. Navy for subjecting sheep and other animals to agonizing pain and spinal injuries in decompression sickness experiments—a campaign that’s already garnered coverage in U.S. military news outlet Stars and Stripes.
  3. PETA supporters kept Eli Lilly’s CEO from getting too comfortable at a fireside chat hosted by Purdue University, storming the stage to challenge him over the pharmaceutical company’s refusal to ban the forced swim test.
  4. We also raised a ruckus during faculty orientation at the University of Massachusetts–Amherst, peacefully interrupting the chancellor’s speech in order to expose his school’s horrific, absurd menopause experiments on marmosets.
  5. Scientists from PETA Science Consortium International e.V. teamed up with U.S. government agencies to coauthor an exciting new scientific paper that offers a framework for boosting the regulatory acceptance of modern, non-animal toxicity testing methods.
