As Cox makes clear in a charming public service announcement (PSA) for PETA, he is indeed a phenomenal actor—because the real man has a heart of gold! He knows that spaying and neutering is the most effective way to end animal homelessness. He drives that point home in an “interview” with a delightful cat named Patches, who was up for adoption at London’s Mayhew animal shelter (and who has since been adopted).
Mickey Rourke, another tough-as-nails actor, also pulls no punches when it comes to speaking up for animals. When the actor got a chance to work with his beloved Chihuahua—queue the music, his name is Jaws—he was immediately on board. In a no-holds-barred ad promoting spaying and neutering, Mickey and Jaws urge people to “[h]ave the cojones to fix your dog. When dogs get knocked up, puppies get put down because there aren’t enough homes for them.”
