PETA fieldworkers are always there for animals in need, through scorching hot summer days and bone-chilling winter nights. While most of us are spending the winter tucked inside warm homes and offices, these animal advocates spend nearly all day outside (and often handle emergency calls at night), bringing relief to neglected, chained dogs and other animals who need their help. The team delivers custom-built wood doghouses to replace flimsy plastic “shelters” and stuffs them full of dry straw for insulation. They replace heavy metal chains with lightweight tie-outs and do their best to ease each dog’s loneliness with a toy, treats, and much-needed affection.
PETA Business Friend Noize donated specially made “PETA Animal Rescue Team” hooded puffer coats for all our fieldworkers. As its motto—“Not a single animal will be harmed. Ever”—indicates, the company makes quality outerwear from cruelty-free materials, including vegan fur, wool, and leather and 100% recycled RePET insulation that’s guaranteed to keep you warm even when the temperature falls to as low as -22 degrees. The parkas are definitely PETA fieldworker–approved. As our Field Operations Manager Jes Cochran put it,
“We can’t stop because we’re cold, and with so many animals depending on us, we can’t afford to get sick. We are so, so grateful to Noize.”
A doghouse and straw are far from the warm indoor life that every dog deserves, but for a lonely “backyard dog,” they can mean the difference between life and death.
To all our supporters who are already funding these vital programs: Thank you!
