You have the chance to win the trip of a lifetime: a 12-day vegan tour of India for two, courtesy of PETA Business Friend VegVoyages.
Ornate temples built thousands of years ago, majestic gardens, villages full of vibrant colors, ancient royal castles, exotic scenery, and fragrant spices—these are just a few of the reasons why India is one of the most fascinating and unforgettable countries in the world.
If you win, you and a guest will start your “Vegin’ Out in the Land of Rajputs” adventure in Delhi, which is known for its bustling markets, ancient forts, and historic monuments. From there, you’ll be whisked off to Bharatpur to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Keoladeo Ghana National Park, where you’ll see hundreds of birds, beautiful forests, and wetlands. Next, you’ll experience the majesty of the Taj Mahal and explore the 16th-century ruins of Fatehpur Sikri, which was once the capital of the Mughal Empire.
Winners will also tour the romantic Kingdom of Kishangarh and spend two nights at the Maharajah’s monsoon palace on Gundalao Lake, which was built in 1870. They’ll get a chance to go to bazaars, do yoga, visit a school and a marble quarry, and enjoy a vegan lunch at the Roopangarh Palace with fellow travelers. From there, it’s on to Bhadrajun, a picturesque village, where they’ll learn about the local culture and attend a ceremony at a remote Hindu temple that’s more than 3,000 years old. They’ll also visit an all-vegetarian village and spend time with a local family before ending the night with a delectable vegan dinner and Marwari music.
After taking in the marble masterpiece of the Ranakpur Jain temple—one of the five holiest sites in the Jain religion—the lucky winners will soak up a night of serenity at a hillside retreat. Then the tour moves on to the 15th-century medieval citadel of Kumbhalgarh on its way to the royal city of Udaipur—one of the most romantic places in all of India. Our winner and his or her guest will take a vegan cooking class, cruise on the lake, and see the many animals who are receiving help at a unique animal-rescue organization. Next, they’ll tour 18th-century royal gardens and the Royal City Palace and enjoy a delicious homemade Mewari feast at a local Rajput family’s home, along with live music and folk dances.
Throughout this entire journey, the contest winners will dine exclusively on scrumptious vegan food that is sure to please their palates and awaken their senses.
