The problem with fireworks caught the attention of actor Edward James Olmos, and he wants the public to know about the dangers of such displays and how to help keep companion animals calm.

Olmos, star of Battlestar Galactica, teamed up with PETA to ask people to keep animal companions safe during Fourth of July celebrations or any festivity that uses fireworks. His four-legged friend Moe joined him while he explained that, for animals, fireworks are things of nightmares, not celebrations:

Fireworks can cause frightened animals to panic and escape from their homes. Sometimes, they end up lost or are even hit by cars—but you can help prevent this.
