A Slice of Good News: Our Clinic Rockstar Just Won a SNIPPY Award

PETA’s Mobile Clinics Division shows what compassion looks like in action. Because of donors and supporters like you, animals get what they deserve: skilled care delivered with gentle hands. Your generosity keeps our veterinary teams rolling down the road, meeting—and helping—animals where they are.

This month, there’s an extra reason to celebrate. Our important work just got a well-deserved standing ovation: our very own Crissie Heusted received the SNIPPY AWARD’s Rockstar Induction Technician Award! This honor recognizes an induction tech who goes above and beyond—hustling every day, lifting teammates, and bringing real value to a high-volume clinic. This award celebrates a true rock star whose dedication, skill, and spirit make the entire team stronger.

Crissie has been a steadfast presence in our clinics for two decades, helping animals drift safely into surgery and wake up to a healthier future ahead.

The winners were announced on a livestream—and Crissie was completely surprised.

The Lifesaving Work You Made Possible in February

Our mobile clinic teams spayed and neutered 1,246 animals in February, including 826 cats and 420 dogs. That means fewer animals born into homelessness, fewer families forced to make heartbreaking choices, and fewer animals left to struggle to survive outside. It’s prevention with compassion at its core—and it works.

Your support also made it possible to help animals who needed extra care and coordination. In February, 77 animals were transported to and from free surgeries, including SuBonny, Bruce, and Pebbles.

Second Chances for Animals Who Needed Help Fast

Some animals arrive with stories shaped by neglect, fear, or pain.

When fieldworkers brought in My Dog, who was heavily matted and thankfully surrendered to our shelter, our clinic staff carefully shaved him, neutered him, and gave him desperately needed relief from the constant pain of the mats pulling on his skin. From there, he was transferred to our trusted partners at the Virginia Beach SPCA for a chance at adoption.

Fieldworkers also picked up Nicko, who had a severely injured eye. During his neuter surgery, the clinic staff removed the eye to stop the pain and prevent more harm. When Nicko’s guardian didn’t want him back with only one eye, we didn’t see a “problem”—we saw a resilient individual who deserved love. He too was transferred to the Virginia Beach SPCA, where he can continue healing and find a family who sees him for exactly who he is.

This work is constant, hands-on, and deeply meaningful—and it runs on kindness from people like you. If you’re proud of what these teams accomplish every day (and excited that Crissie’s dedication is getting the spotlight it deserves), please help keep the clinics rolling by donating today.

Together, we’re changing lives one surgery, one surprise award, and one second chance at a time. Thank you so much for all you do to help our vital work.
