10 Easy Things You Can Do To Help Animals

Have you done any of these everyday actions to speak out for animals? Let us know! When you complete an action listed here, tell us about it on our Facebook page!

Here are 10 easy steps that you can take to help animals right now:

  1. It’s been said that when you go vegan, everyone around you suddenly becomes a nutrition expert. PETA’s got you covered with high-quality nutrition lists so that you can respond to the inevitable question “If you’re vegan, where do you get your ___?”

  1. Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday. Do something meaningful with that extra hour: Take a neighbor’s dog for a walk in the park, drop off a big bag of dandelion greens and parsley for the rabbits at an animal shelter, or post vegan-themed leaflets at your gym or local organic-foods store.

  1. After hearing from PETA supporters, many companies have dropped their Iditarod sponsorships, but there’s still work to be done. Stand with us and demand that other companies follow suit and stop sponsoring this abusive race.

  1. Make a vegan pumpkin pie for your neighbors and share the recipe (and other holiday-themed vegan recipes) with them.

  1. Tell your friends and family to keep an extra-close eye on their kitties during Halloween, when PETA receives more reports of crimes against black cats than at any other time of the year. And if you think that you want to have a black cat in your life, adopt one from your local shelter—it just might save your life.

  1. This Halloween, leave the flesh to the zombies and prevent animals from suffering by going vegan or sharing a vegan starter kit with a friend.

  1. Take a photo of your dogs with a sign that reads, “We Are Not an Experiment” or “We Are Not Test Tubes”; post it on your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts with the hashtag #StopTAMUDogTests; and tag @TAMU.

  1. Read and share this shelter worker’s powerful story for a new understanding of open-admission facilities.

  1. Never be caught unprepared when illness strikes one of your animal companions—try to set aside a fund for both routine and emergency care, and put money into it each month.

  1. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or student, you can help end cruel and archaic classroom dissection. Pledge to end it today!
