Free Resources for ‘National Estate Planning Awareness Week’

It’s National Estate Planning Awareness Week (October 18 to 24), the perfect time to make sure that you have a secure plan in place.

As important as it is to prepare for yourself, your animal companions, and other loved ones, it’s also vital to consider the charitable causes that matter most to you. When you include a gift to PETA in your estate plans, your legacy will help keep our work for animals going strong.

As you put your estate plan in place, we have several free resources to help you. A great place to start is by watching our most recent Legacy Planning Workshop, during which PETA’s legacy gifts team and estate planning experts will show you how to create a comprehensive estate plan.

You’ll also find a whole host of free publications at PETA.org/Resources to assist you—no matter what stage of planning you may be in—including the following:

  • Getting Started is a simple guide to will- and trust-planning essentials to help you determine your options and map out your goals.
  • Getting Organizedis a user-friendly workbook with forms and checklists that walk you through a variety of considerations when planning, and it helps you gather all the necessary information.
  • Easy Ways to Create Your Legacy explores ways you can make protecting animals part of your life story, now and in the future.

One of the most popular guides that we offer is our animal companion planning packet to help you prepare for the future of your animal companions when you’re no longer able to care for them—a vital but often overlooked aspect of estate planning.

PETA has also partnered with FreeWill to help PETA supporters create an estate plan online, for free. Click here to get started.

It’s never too early to get started with an estate plan or too late to update one. Whether you aren’t sure where to start, are in the process of creating your plans, or need to update your will, trust, or beneficiary designations, PETA is here to help!
