Vegan in Vegas

No wonder people who live in Las Vegas are called “Las Vegans.” It’s a vegan-friendly city with a number of vegetarian and vegan restaurants and a raw food Meetup group that boasts more than 3,500 members.

And while there are tons of casinos, Elvis impersonators, acrobats, magicians, daredevils, nightclubs, and wedding chapels, as you’d expect, there are also plenty of farmer’s markets and health-food stores and cafés.

If you’re headed to Sin City, be sure to stop by VegeNation for “global street food that makes you feel really damn good.” It’s 100 percent plant-based, and I’ve heard that the Muchos Gracias quesadilla is muy bien.

Violette’s Vegan is a fun spot to catch an NFL game, enjoy Sunday brunch, or simply stuff your face with one of the many mouthwatering sandwiches, salads, wraps, soups, and other menu items.

And while you’re in Vegas, eat at at least one of Steve Wynn’s 18 vegan-friendly restaurants. The menus were created by renowned vegan chef Tal Ronnen, so I’m sure that the meal alone will be worth the trip to Vegas. Not in the mood for a fancy gourmet meal? That’s all right. Opt for a veggie burger and fries, and wash them down with a scrumptious vegan milkshake.

A fellow blogger raved about Pop Up Pizza‘s popular vegan pizza, The Soho. It has vegan cheese and lots of artichokes, although if artichokes aren’t your thing, you can substitute other veggies. Be sure to save room, because the word is that after you enjoy your pie, you can enjoy some vegan soft serve.

Hussong’s Cantina has a vegan menu featuring everything from quesadillas and chimichangas to arugula salad and chocolate cake. Hussong’s signature margaritas are perfect for a stay in the party capital of the world.

Just remember that when it comes to food, the saying “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” doesn’t apply. You need to tell everyone about all the tasty vegan meals you had.
