Your Spring Cleaning Can Help Animals

Spring is here, and you know what that means. It’s time for that dreaded annual chore—spring cleaning. But here’s a tip that can help motivate you to tidy up: Your spring cleaning can help animals in need. Before you lug a carload of “casualties” from this year’s cleaning to the thrift store or recycling center, consider donating those items to PETA. Old jewelry, electronics, and even that painting that you haven’t had hanging on the wall since the days before cell phones ruled the Earth can make a big difference in an animal’s life. How?

Thanks to eBay’s Giving Works program, folks can sell items online and specify a percentage of the proceeds to benefit their favorite charity. And since PETA is already high on your list, all you have to do is visit PETA’s Giving Works page and put your items up for bid. Never listed anything on eBay before? No problem. Contact Michelle Cehn at MichelleCehn@petaf.org or 510-763-7407 with any questions that you have, and she’ll be glad to help.

Here’s how it works: When you list an item for auction on eBay, you can choose to donate between 10 and 100 percent of the earnings from your auction to PETA. The item is then marked with a Giving Works icon to let potential buyers know that proceeds from your sale will be going to a good cause. Even better, when you donate 100 percent of your auction’s earnings to PETA, eBay will waive the selling fees, making it completely free for you to sell your cast-offs to benefit animals. After the item is sold, the donation will be sent to PETA—it’s as simple as that.

So do the animals—and yourself—a big favor this spring and put those old but still-valuable items to work for a good cause and make your own spring renewal lead to renewed hope for animals in need.

As long as you’re selling on eBay (or through my favorite platform, Amazon Marketplace), be sure to toss a Vegetarian Starter Kit into your shipment. It’s a great way to inform folks who might otherwise not have access to this info.

Et que penseraient ces monstres si l’on se décidait à porter de la peau d’humain ?????
