World's First Cruelty-Free Hotel

Nestled in the Swiss town of Kreuzlingen on the shores of Lake Constance—the third-largest lake in Europe—is a true vegan paradise: the Hotel Swiss Vegan.
Established nearly 2 years ago and still going strong, the Hotel Swiss Vegan bills itself as the world's first totally vegan hotel. It is the brainchild of Dr. Ernst Walter Henrich, who is also the cofounder of the skin-care company Dr. Baumann Cosmetic. A longtime supporter of PETA Germany, Dr. Henrich cares as much about preventing cruelty to animals as he does about providing quality skin care. He firmly believes in creating cosmetics and skin-care products that are hypo-allergenic and free of artificial preservatives and perfumes and that include pure, natural plant oils instead of mineral oils. And he has also always insisted that the products be completely vegan (free of animal-derived ingredients) and never tested on animals. Because he is such a firm believer in the benefits that a vegan diet can have on the outside (on the skin) as well as on the inside, he even has his own vegan Web site, provegan.info.
But back to that hotel, which boasts stylishly furnished rooms, breathtaking lake views, its own yacht, a conference area, and the Dr. Baumann Cosmetic Institute, in addition to a full-service gourmet vegan restaurant. Watch this video and see if you last 30 seconds before your mouth starts to water at the sight of grilled "shrimp" salad, vegan ravioli, "beef" stew, and "chicken" cordon bleu, as well as an array of luscious vegan desserts.
