The Genesis of Affirmative Prayer—for All Species

My recent post about affirmative prayer generated many requests for an actual affirmative prayer post! The following nondenominational affirmative prayer speaks to the condition we desire by affirming it as already so, thereby attracting our good to us. Prayer is extremely personal, so consider this a customizable blueprint, carrying no intent to diminish or dismiss any system of faith, belief, or nonbelief. It calls to the one common denominator that unites us: our love for animals and our desire for them to have peace.

There is One Presence we know as the Divine. Whatever our faith or feeling, we recognize this intrinsic Presence as all that is, all that ever was, and all that ever will be—a Presence of wholeness and love that fills and connects every heart and soul.

We are one with this Presence, which perfectly expresses through all life: a pattern of perfection witnessed in the migrations of geese and the transformation of a chameleon’s skin, in the breeze beneath a bird’s wings and the majestic pattern of a single fallen feather. It is the breath of life within all things, the perfect balance and harmony of Mother Earth, and the journey of all her beloved children.

We bless the animals of our world who are loved, and we bless their caregivers. We bless those animals who are abused for food, clothing, animal tests, and entertainment and those who are injured, abandoned, and neglected. We see for them a day that delivers the tranquility that is their birthright. We hold a vision of freedom for all those who are jailed, exploited, and enslaved and know the truth of peace for those who experience indefinable pain and suffering. We embrace the highest articulation of hope for the humans who, knowingly or otherwise, perpetuate these activities, that their hearts and minds are transformed through the inspiration of the animal teachers who give their very lives so that we might learn. We see the open hearts of humanity newly inspired toward true spiritual stewardship as fellow expressions of the One.

Beneath all outer appearances lies a deep sense of clarity and connection with all life. As manifestations of infinite Presence in form, we behold all expressions of life as sacred. The winged ones of the air, the finned ones of the sea, the furred and fleshed ones of the land, and all other magnificent life forms are demonstrations of divine intelligence, and we affirm that all are held safely in the heart of the ages. The waters of empathy and understanding cleanse us and elevate our animal brethren to a higher place of compassionate acknowledgment in the eyes of the humans with whom they walk the Earth. We see the promise, for all Earth’s animals, of serene and fully expressed lives.

As we stand in the glow of gratitude that knows and proclaims these truths for all the living activity of  Spirit, we say “Thank you” for the good that is already present for each and every representation of the Divine.

We release these seeds of prayer into the ever—obedient creative soil, which knows only to grow our intentions, confident that the divine Intelligence in each seed has already manifested a fully blossomed garden. We are grateful for this demonstration of truth, and standing firmly in the knowledge that it is already done, we say, “And so it is!”
