Win a Copy of The Quantum Wellness Cleanse! by Guest Blogger

This post was originally written by Mylie Thompson for The PETA Files.

You may have seen best-selling author Kathy Freston on Oprah or just yesterday on Good Morning America. If you missed either-fear not! She is just getting started with her newest book: Quantum Wellness Cleanse: The 21-Day Essential Guide to Healing Your Mind, Body and Spirit.

The author of New York Times bestsellers Quantum Wellness: A Practical and Spiritual Guide to Health and Happiness and The One, Kathy has in her newest book given readers easy-to-follow steps for improving their health.

Kathy outlines essential day-to-day plans of what foods to eat-complete with recipes. As a vegan herself, one of the steps that Kathy recommends in the cleanse is eliminating the consumption of animal products. Freston also covers topics such as how to deal with complex feelings that can arise from detoxing and how to redirect energy to take on a fresh momentum. This book is a must-have addition to any health library and for anyone interested in improving their well being.

Now is your chance to win a free copy of Kathy’s new book. Just leave a short comment below telling us about your health goals this year that involve being healthier for you, animals, and the planet. Five winners will be chosen at random.

The contest ends on May 28, and we’ll contact the winners by June 3. Be sure to read our privacy policy and our terms and conditions, as you’re agreeing to both by commenting. Good luck!

My health goal for this year is go from an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet to a vegan diet. I feel that getting rid of all dairy products has definitely made me healthier both physically and mentally. I am also planning on doing more volunteer work at local animal shelters. I am moving to Houston, TX later this year and want to become involved in the anti- greyhound racing advocacy there. Of course, I will include my children in all of my endeavors so that they can learn to help the planet become a healthier place.

My health goal this year is to start making my own lunches instead of relying on the same, limited vegan “fast food” options! Also, to start shopping for fruits and vegetables exclusively with CSAs and the Farmer’s Markets. I’ve already joined with a CSA – now I just have to get used to cooking with what I get each week! (Oh, and cutting down my carb intake wouldn’t hurt either).

My health-related goals are to be a healthy vegan and use that joy to be a voice for the animals and the planet. Cleansing is a great place to start!

My health goals for this year are to continue eating healthy, nutritious foods, but cut down on my dairy consumption. I also plan to do more shopping at the Farmers Market.

I’m turning 48 this year and feeling better than I have in a long time since becoming a vegetarian. It’s been almost 2 years. I’ve had a hysterectomy, thyroid cancer, and have Rheumatoid arthritis. So many years of medication, surgeries and never felt as good as I do now. This healthy way of life started as a spiritual experience and is the best thing I’ve done for myself and the planet.

I think I have finally figured it out! I’ve gone back to basics with my nutrition..eating veggies and plants and I’ve never felt better. I have become a conscious consumer for myself, my family and my pets. I always read labels and I’m very aware of how food and environment can affect all of us. I am the guardian of my animals (3 dogs & 3 cats) and they look to me to make healthy choices for them.

I’ve overcome a lot in the past couple of years. My asthma has drastically improved, so my new goal is a half marathon, which I just started training for and something I never imagined that I could do.

This is the first summer I have taken a real interest in growing my own vegetable garden. I believe in organic farming, without the use of pesticides. I’ve included a mix of heirloom vegetables that I plan to save the seeds from and cultivate again next year. I can’t wait to sample from my garden and mix up some vegetarian recipe!

My goal for this year is to lose weight and get healthy. I plan on doing this by becoming a vegan. Right now, I eat chicken and eggs but am trying to eliminate that and to start checking labels for any animal products in foods and avoiding them!

I’ve been working my way toward being a vegetarian, and this year I’d like to “go all the way” – with going vegan being my ultimate goal. I believe it is the healthiest thing I can do for myself, for the animals, and for the planet.

The book Quantum Wellness Cleanse the 21-Day Essential Guide to Healing Your Mind, Body and Spirit sounds exactly what I need. I have a genetic disorder that makes what I eat and everything around me toxic to my body. I have been on many detox cleanser and strict diets. I have decided to eliminate all animal products from my diet to improve my health. As an animal wildlife rehabilitator, I have a deep love for animals and it breaks my heart to hear how cruel farm animal’s conditions are. I will do everything I can to do my part to improve the earth and the environment we live in.

I’m actually not a vegetarian anymore :( I started eating meat again because I got really sick when I was a vegetarian because I wasn’t eating healthy, I was just not eating meat. Hopefully this book can guide me back to being a vegetarian and getting healthy. Cause right now, I feel very unhealthy.

I have a few health goals. One is to become vegan. I am a vegetarian right now and avoid diary and eggs, but it has been hard living with and cooking for a carnivore. But, it’s something I feel strongly about, so I need to find a way to make it work.
My other goal is to start eating a “heart healthy” diet, as I have recently been told that I have irregular heart beats. The word “pace-maker” has been tossed around and I’m only 24! I’m not overweight, either. And that brings me to my third goal; I may not be overweight, but I’m also not very toned. I need to work on that as well.

My mother just died of a rare form of cancer. I believe it was due to her poor diet. I now believe that cleansing the system is the only way to prevent diseases. I am new to the vegetarian lifestyle but would love to have a useful tool to help me cleanse and purify my body. As far as helping the poor animals, I have 2 greyhound rescues in my loving home. They are happy and healthy both physically and mentally. I work in an element that affords me the opportunity to contact many people and inform them about issues that are important in saving the lives of animals which, in turn, I believe improves our planet !!

My goal is to transistion from a vegetarian into a vegan. I’ve been a vegetarian for a year, and love what it has done for my mind and body. However, I still need to lose weight – both physical pounds and emotional baggage. I feel that cutting dairy and eggs could do that for me. A cleanse, such as this one, would be a great way to put me on a pure path, one that supports all my goals.
