I generally hand out Smarties and Laffy Taffy which are both vegan and not manufacturered by Mars. After reading this I decided to search on google and found a list on PETA Kids http://www.petakids.com/candy.html

Thank goodness I had already bought some Hershey’s treats. Mars, Inc. should be ashamed of themselves, they’re the real scare. They wouldn’t want kids to know what they really do.

I gave up trying to find affordable vegan candy for haloween. I have a basket of nickles and animal rights buttons and stickers that i keep by the front door. i put a handful of nickles in their bag and then let them pick which button or stickers they want. Kids get all excited about buttons and stickers no matter what the buttons say. And its fun to watch them put on their buttons and stickers knowing that the next house they go to will see their “Be kind to animals” or “Boycott fur” stickers on their costumes.
